Ice wine Reif Vidal 37,5 cl - 10°
Quebec Ice Wine.
An exceptional wine, a totally new experience: the harvest of frozen grapes!
Product information
Reif Vidal Icewine is a Canadian ice wine produced by the Reif Estate Winery. Ice wine is a unique type of dessert wine made from grapes frozen on the vine. This freezing process concentrates the natural sugars in the grapes, resulting in an intensely sweet and aromatic wine.
Characteristics of Reif Vidal Icewine:
- Grape variety: Vidal (a Canadian hybrid white grape known for its cold resistance)
- Origin: Canada (likely Ontario given the location of Reif Estate)
- Color: Light gold to dark gold
- Alcohol content: Generally between 8 and 11% ABV, lower than a classic table wine
- Sugar content: High, up to 200 g/L (grams per liter), making it a sweet wine
- Taste: Intensely sweet, with notes of fresh white fruits (peach, apricot), candied fruits (apricot, peach), honey, flowers, and sometimes floral notes of violet. A hint of acidity balances the sweetness and adds freshness.
- Aroma: Intense fragrance of fresh and candied white fruits, honey, and flowers
The grapes for Reif Vidal Icewine are left on the vine after the first autumn frosts. The temperature must drop below -8°C for ice to form in the grapes. This freezing process concentrates the sugars in the remaining juice (unfrozen) inside the grape. The frozen grapes are then hand-harvested and quickly pressed to extract the concentrated juice. Fermentation of this juice with selected yeasts produces Reif Vidal Icewine.
Due to its sweetness and richness, Reif Vidal Icewine pairs perfectly with fruity desserts, blue cheeses, foie gras, and dark chocolate. It can also be enjoyed on its own as a digestif.
